This year we have three Key Stage One classes. They are taught by Miss Winter, Mrs Aurangzaib and Miss Urwin. They are supported by our Teaching Assistants - Miss Baggot, Mrs Massey, Mrs Hill and Mrs Hornby.
In Key Stage One we plan learning around a topic which usually lasts around 6 weeks. We follow carefully planned themes to ensure a broad and balanced curriculum offer for all pupils. A key story text is also used to develop childrens reading and writing skills. Where possible this linked to our topic.
Children also have opportunities to experience play based learning, inside and out, often known as continuous provision. This consolidates and extends their learning.
In school this year we have 8 classes across key stage 2 - two in each year group. This ensures children are taught in smaller classes with the support of teaching assistants when needed.
Years Three and Four work closely together, as do Years Five and Six.
As in Key Stage 1, we follow carefully planned themes to provide a broad and balanced curriculum. Learning is planned around a topic and a key text is carefully chosen to deepen childrens' understanding. Links with PSHE are also carefully planned.
