This year we have 2 Year One classes and 2 Year Two They are taught by Miss Winter, Mrs Rathbone, Miss Rafferty and Mrs Asghar and assisted by our TA's - Miss Baggot, Mrs Green, Mrs Jackson and Mrs Hill.
In Key Stage One we plan learning around a topic which usually lasts around 6 weeks. We follow the Cornerstones Curriculum to ensure broad and balanced curriculum. A key story text is also used to develop childrens reading and writing skills. Where possible this linked to our topic.
Children also have opportunities to experience play based learning, inside and out, often known as continuous provision. This consolidates and extends their learning.
In school this year we have 8 classes across key stage 2 - two in each year group. This ensures children are taught in smaller classes with the support of teaching assistants when needed.
Years Three and Four work closely together, as do Years Five and Six.
As in Key Stage 1, we use Cornerstones to provide a broad and balanced curriculum. Learning is planned around a topic and a key text is carefully chosen to deepen childrens' understanding. Links with PSHE are also carefully planned.
