KEY STAGE 1 - Years One and Two
This year we have 3 Y1/2 classes. They are taught by Mr Williams, Miss Winter and Mrs Asghar and assisted by our TA's - Miss Baggot, Mrs Green and Mrs Hill.
In Key Stage One we plan learning around a topic which usually lasts around 6 weeks. We follow the Cornerstones Curriculum to ensure broad and balanced curriculum. A key story text from the Power of Reading is also used to develop childrens reading and writing skills. Where possible this linked to our topic.
This half term our topic is 'Super Heroes' and children will be reading Supertato.
Children also have opportunities to experience play based learning, inside and out, often known as continuous provision. This consolidates and extends their learning.
Key Stage 2 - Years Three to Six
In school this year we have 8 classes across key stage 2 - two in each year group. This ensures children are taught in smaller classes with the support of teaching assistants when needed.
Years Three and Four work closely together, as do Years Five and Six.
As in Key Stage 1, we use Cornerstones to provide a broad and balanced curriculum. Learning is planned around a topic and a key text is carefully chosen to deepen childrens' understanding. Links with PSHE are also carefully planned.
